An Independent Medical Exam (IME) is a medical evaluation that may be requested by a claim manager or self-insured employer. The purpose of the examination is to establish clinical observations and conclusions about the worker's condition.
High quality IMEs help protect the rights of workers and employers in Washington state by enabling accurate and even-handed industrial insurance benefit payment. IMEs should provide unbiased, accurate and comprehensive information and be carried out with dignity and respect for the worker.
