How employers file an appeal about workers' comp premiums with the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals

What you need to do

1. Write a letter to the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals (BIIA), include in your letter:
   • Your reasons (explained) for disagreeing with the L&I decision.
   • A copy of the Notice, (if not available, include the number and issue date).
   • Your L&I account number (found on your quarterly report).
   • Your address and phone number.
   • The name and address of your business.
2. Submit your appeal.
   • Mail your appeal to:
     The Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals
     PO Box 42401
     Olympia WA 98504-2401
   • Appeal electronically at Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals (www.biia.wa.gov).

Note: L&I may still reconsider an order when an appeal is filed.
