2012 rates for workers' compensation

L&I announced there will be no general rate increase on average in workers' compensation rates next year. While there will be no general rate increase, individual employers may see their rates go up or down, depending on their recent claims history and changes in the frequency and cost of claims in their industry. In total, 171 risk classes will increase and 146 risk classes will decrease or stay the same.

2011 base rates for workers' compensation

L&I announced an average 12% rate increase per hour for 2011. This was equivalent to a 9.7% increase in the rate per $100 of payroll.

2010 base rates for workers' compensation

L&I announced an average 7.6% rate increase per hour for 2010. This was equivalent to a 5.5% increase in the rate per $100 of payroll.

These rates are based on the adoption of new rules regarding unassigned occupational disease claims for Retrospective Rating.
