Self-Insurance Risk-Analysis System (SIRAS)

About

  • SIRAS is a new data collection and analysis system that L&I is developing in partnership with Washington’s self-insured community.
  • After July 1, 2017, self-insurers or their third-party administrators will be required to report medical billing data through a new electronic data interchange (EDI).

The 3 parts of the SIRAS system

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

Self-insured employers or their third-party administrators will submit data through the EDI, which will be maintained by ISO, a third-party vendor. For information, see ISO's site (walniedi.info).

Risk Analytics

A database that will store self-insurance data for analytics, including reports to self-insurers and notifications to L&I for review of compliance risk indicators.

Online Customer Service (Complaint System)

A web-based application where injured workers, their representatives, and health-care providers can submit concerns. In tandem with this project, L&I will improve an existing web page for employer concerns.
