Workers' Compensation Self-Insurance Rules and Regulations

The proposed rules will address when a self-insured employer has unreasonably delayed the payment of medical bills that can result in a penalty payable to the worker. It will include the process and elements needed for penalty requests and may include criteria for penalties on delayed authorization of appropriate medical treatment. This rule proposal is in response to recent Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals (BIIA) and Superior Court decisions. The new rules will be adopted under WAC 295-15.
