Kim Contris was appointed Assistant Director for Communications in 1997. She is responsible for all internal and external agency communications, directs a staff of public information officers, manages the agency's hotline call center, and the agency's e-commerce program. In her position, she also advises the director and other division executives on public policy statements and works with division execs on general communication plans.
Kim was director of Education and Information for the Department of Ecology from 1993-97, director of Quality and Communications Services for the Department of Licensing from 1989-93, and was director of Media and Legislative Relations for the Department of General Administration from 1986-89.
She graduated in 1981 from Whitman College with a BA in English and received her Master's Degree in Public Administration from the Evergreen State College in 1987.
