The Medical Program Specialist will:
  • Help develop and implement programs to improve the workers’ compensation system in Washington State.
  • Identify and lead L&I process improvements
  • Identify and work on occupational health care process improvements within the provider community.
  • Make presentations to a variety of internal L&I groups and healthcare providers.
  • Be part of a team dedicated to helping L&I become a model insurer with whom providers want to do business.
  • Work with teams, project managers and analysts to develop and implement project plans.




Preferred Education & Experience:

Masters' degree majoring in public health, public administration, health administration, nursing, economics, business administration, social sciences or closely allied field and three years experience in analysis, research or project management in a health care or workers' compensation setting.



Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree with major study in public health, public administration, nursing, health administration, economics, business administration, social sciences or closely allied field and one year experience in analysis, research, project management or service coordination in a health care, medical insurance, social services, or workers' compensation setting.

 

Knowledge of:

Health Care and Workers' Compensation and quality and process improvement methods (e.g. lean processing, change management, etc.

    decision-making appropriate for organizational and political context.

  • Use computer programs to document healthcare issues and solutions.
  • Demonstrate time and project management. Organize multiple assignments of complex nature and competing priorities. Produce accurate and through work products on time.
