Q: What is Online Insurance?
Online Insurance is the department’s 'Electronic Bond and Insurance Policy System' that is used by insurance agencies to submit insurance renewal, cancellation and new policy information electronically for Construction Contractors and Electrical Telecomunications Contractors.

Q: How can an insurance agency get set up to process their insurances online?
You must complete an “Application for Agent Online Insurance Entry Access” form (F625-410-000).

You may scan it and email it to EBIPSAgencyApp@LNI.wa.gov or fax it to 360-902-5812, or mail it to PO Box 44450 Olympia, WA 98501-4450.
The form will be processed and you will be notified by email with further instructions.

Q: If an agent calls and is having difficulty with the online service, who should they contact?

Q: Are the certificates that are entered online updated immediately in the Contractor Registration system?
Yes, the contractors account information is updated immediately once the electronic certificate is submitted.

Q: If the insurance is entered online, do I need to mail or email a copy of the certificate?
No, that will not be necessary.

Q: When must a certificate be entered to avoid a contractor from being suspended?
A suspension will be avoided if both of the following are true:

  • The insurance is entered into the online system on or before the expiration/cancellation date of the current policy, and
  • The effective date of the new policy or the reinstatement date of the cancelled policy is on or before the expiration date.

Q: What happens if the insurance is entered online and the contractor is already suspended?
The insurance will be posted to the contractor record. The contractor's registration will still be in suspended status until the reinstatement fee and any other requirements have been met.

Q: Can I pay a reinstatement fee online?
Yes. You may Pay your reinstatement fee online.

Q: Can I enter insurance for a brand new contractor online?
If an application has been submitted to the department and a license/registration is in 'Unprocessed' status you may submit insurance online.

Q: Can the online program be used to add insurance to Telecom Electrical Contractors?
Yes, but only to 09 Telecom Electrical Contractors. Other Electrical Contractors do not require insurance.

Q: Can bonds be entered online?
Not at this time but we hope to have that available in the future.
