Distracted Walking Pedestrian Safety

Being attentive to surrounding objects, sounds and the terrain can mean the difference between life and death. It is not worth getting injured or killed because you need to text, listen to music, or play video games while walking.

Over 1,100 people were treated in hospital emergency rooms in the U.S. last year for injuries suffered while walking and using a cellphone, tablet or other device (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

These injuries can happen when working near traffic, on construction sites around heavy machinery and construction debris, walking down stairs inside office buildings, and in parking lots at work.

Watch out for others who aren't paying attention — distracted workers are dangerous to themselves and to others working nearby.
