Dentists and their staff could be exposed to workplace hazards that may cause serious injury or illness.  Hazards include:

  • Bloodborne pathogens
  • Anesthetics, hazardous drugs, disinfectants and other chemicals
  • Sprains and strains from awkward postures and repetitive work
  • Slips, trips and falls
  • Radiation
  • Compressed gases
  • Flying debris
Your required workplace safety program should address how to identify, report, and correct these hazards before someone gets hurt. Proper training, safe work practices, good housekeeping and a positive safety culture at work help keep everyone safe from these hazards.
