Ideas for guards based on the type of machinery that you choose. Example: If you select “wrapping machines” in the drop down menu, you will receive all ideas currently in the database for safeguarding wrapping machines.

What type of safeguarding method are you looking for?

Ideas for guards based on the guarding method you choose. Example: If you select “pressure sensitive mats” in the drop down menu, you will receive ideas for all pressure sensitive mats currently in the database.

Keyword search

All safeguarding ideas in the database that address the word(s) you entered.

Q: What if I can’t find an idea under the key word search?

A:

  • Do not use punctuation of any sort
  • Check to see that you spelled the word correctly
  • Try a similar word such as “grinders” for “abrasive wheel machinery”
  • If you still can’t find anything, try a search using the drop down menus – “What type of machinery do you want to safeguard?” or “What type of safeguarding method are you looking for?”

Ideas are included at the sole discretion of the department. L&I does not endorse any commercial products found on this site or guarantee that the ideas on this site will eliminate machine safeguarding hazards identified in WAC 296-806, Machine Safety. Employers and employees should work together to make certain the ideas they implement in their workplace meet the rule's requirements.
