SKILLSUSA 2013 STATE CONFERENCE ORGANIZATIONAL JUDGING MEETING(s)

The meeting will be taking place Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Renton High School (in the Commons right inside the front entrance), 400 South 2nd Street, Renton, WA 98055.  We will begin at 5:30 PM with a meal provided by the Renton High School Culinary Arts Program.  The focus for the meeting will be to review General SkillsUSA Contest Format & Regulations, contest budgets, contest locations, equipment needs, judging needs, and other related contest elements.  Information about SkillsUSA for those who are new to the program will also be available and reviewed.
Please RSVP your intentions relative to the meeting by emailing back to bruce.mcburney@skillsusawashington.org .  We need an accurate count so the culinary program can prepare the proper amount of food.  Some of you have already communicated your intentions based on the first email, so you have completed your task.
When you arrive at Renton High School please enter the building through the front entrance.  Look for the SkillsUSA banner/flag.  We will have a check-in table inside the front door.

Future meetings are scheduled for:
November 14, 2012, Renton High School.
January 16, 2013, Lindbergh High School.
March 13, 2013, Lindbergh High School.

Please place these on your calendar. If you cannot make this meeting, the November 14 meeting will be a chance to catch up. Also, we will distribute the new 2013/2014 SkillUSA Technical Contest Standards at this meeting as they will not be issued until the first part of October. Of the approximately 100 technical, occupational and leadership contest standards, just over half have had substantial revisions.
We look forward to working with you over the next several months to prepare our students for the coming competitions and the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Competition in Kansas City next June. I have attached a copy of our 2012/2013 SkillsUSA Washington Program of Work for your famialiarization with our activities. I will send out one more reminder email on Monday, September 10. In the meantime, if you have questions or comments, please contact me at: 360-923-1741.

Apprenticeship Utizlization Requirement Fact Sheet

Apprenticeship Utilization Requirements (AURs) require a certain percentage of labor hours for a given construction project be performed by Washington State registered and/or approved apprentices. This document was prepared by the Washington Department of Labor & Industries, Office of Apprenticeship in response to requests for information on the topic. This information is intended to address the most frequently asked questions and provide regional resources for those in need of further assistance. While the Department does not play a direct role with regard to Apprenticeship Utilization Requirement (AUR) implementation, we are the registration agency for program sponsors and apprentices in the State.
