Help With Terms Used in Lookup

This list explains the terms used as field names in Look Up: Contractors or Tradespeople.

Field Name Explanation
License Numbers assigned by L&I.
Licensee name The company name.
Licensee type What the license is for: construction, electrical, plumber.
UBI The Washington business license number. Also included is a link to verify that the business carries worker' compensation for employees.
Ind. Ins. Account ID The business must have an Industrial Insurance account with L&I if it has employees.
Business type Details the structure of the business, individual, partnership, corporation, or limited liability company.
Status The business should be listed as "active." Anything other than an active status indicates potential problems.
Expiration date Indicates how much time remains before renewal is necessary.
Business owner information The name of the owner(s).
Bond information The newest active bond is first, followed by those that are older or expired.
Savings information If there is no bond, an assignment of savings should be listed in this field.
Insurance information Lists the amount of property damage that is covered.
Summons/complaints Information Any lawsuits filed against a contractor's bond in Superior Court.
Judgments Lists the outcomes of lawsuits.
