Electrical Licensing, Exams and Educational Requirements

To work in Washington State, all electrical workers must have a certificate. To hire electrical workers, all electrical or telecommunications contractors must have a license.

Apply or renew a certificate or license online, by mail, or in person.

Electrical Exam Information

Electrical and telecommunications administrators, electricians and master electricians are required to take the appropriate exam to qualify for their certificate.

Educational Requirements

Electrical trainees must take certain classes to renew their certification. These classes are identified as Basic Classroom instruction.

Electrical administrators, electricians and master electricians must take continuing education courses for renewing their certificates.

Continuing Education
