L&I offers workshops on workplace accident investigation
EVERETT - Workshops for employers on investigating accidents that occur in the workplace are scheduled at Labor & Industries offices in Bellingham, Everett and Mount Vernon between Aug. 21, 1996 and June 19, 1997.
The no-fee workshop is intended to help employers prevent future workplace accidents by identifying the causes of accidents that have occurred.
According to L&I, an effective accident investigation helps to correct hazardous situations before near-misses become serious injuries and before serious accidents are repeated.
The no-fee workshop will cover:
- Benefits of investigations for employers and employees.
- Identification of incidents requiring investigation.
- Responsibilities of employee and company in the process.
- Steps in the investigation process.
- The tools necessary for documenting accident investigations.
The workshops are scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at:
Bellingham, 1720 Ellis St, Suite 200 Sept. 11 (Course 13615) and Oct. 31, 1996 (13616) and Feb. 6 (13617) and June 19, 1997 (13618).
Everett, 8625 Evergreen Way, Suite 250 Aug. 21 (Course 13619), Oct. 23 (13620) and Dec. 11, 1996 (13621); Feb. 26 (13622) and May 28, 1997 (13623).
Mount Vernon, 525 E. College Way, Suite H Sept. 25, 1996 (Course 13624) Nov. 20, 1996 (13625); Feb. 19 (13526) and May 14, 1997 (13627).
The workshop, one of 24 different courses offered by Labor & Industries, is open to all employers and their representatives. Advanced registration must be made by calling 360-902-5590. Workshop catalogs are available at local L&I service locations.
