July hearing set on changes to reporting rule, risk class definitions
TUMWATER - The Department of Labor & Industries will hold a public hearing July 16 to solicit comments on a proposal to amend six general reporting rules and 45 risk classification changes for employers.
One risk class -- 3143, semi-tractor service centers and repair garages -- would be abolished. Businesses currently in this class would be consolidated into risk class 6409, equipment and machinery dealers.
The changes are necessary because many dealers perform the
service-and-repair activities and the claim-loss information is similar.
The proposed changes would not affect premium payments now assigned to employers in these risk classes. The base rate for 1999 premiums for risk classes 3413 and 6409 is 72.67 cents per each worker hour.
The hearing July 16 begins at 10 a.m. in the auditorium of the L&I building at 7273 Linderson Way SW, Tumwater.
