Attention users of Express Filing:
Please file first-quarter reports on paper

Because of system-wide computer problems Tuesday afternoon, April 30, many employers were unable to access L&I's Express Filing system for online first-quarter reporting and payment of industrial insurance premiums. First, we apologize for problems caused by this unexpected computer outage, which also affected several other state agencies. At this point, we're not sure when Express Filing will be up and running again, but we're working hard to find and fix the problem.

In the meantime, electronic filing for the first quarter is no longer possible because the Express Filing application is not programmed to process reporting beyond the precise due date. If the system was functioning today and customers were able to log in, it would take them only to a second-quarter report.

Therefore, we are asking employers who were unable to file online yesterday to, instead, file a paper report for the first quarter. On that report, please make a request that any late penalties and interest be waived. You may obtain a faxed quarterly report form by calling L&I's Tax Service Representative at 360-902-4817.

Again, our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by this unanticipated, widespread computer-system problem.
