Competitors needed for Central Washington forklift rodeo

TUMWATER — Professional forklift drivers in Central Washington are invited to compete June 16 in a forklift rodeo at the TRAC Center in Pasco. The top seven drivers will win prizes ranging from $50 to $300.

Employers are encouraged to sponsor in-house competitions and send their best drivers. Participation is limited to the first 30 drivers who register.

The top five individual qualifiers from each of three regional competitions — in Pasco, Spokane and King County — will compete in the finals at the 10th Annual Forklift Rodeo at the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference in Tacoma Sept. 26.

Competitors in Pasco test their abilities in a written exam, pre-use inspection of a forklift and an obstacle course. Applications are at www.wagovconf.org/forklift.htm or by calling 360‑902‑5452 or 888‑451-2004 (TDD users: 360-902-5797). Entry fee is $40. There is no admission charge for spectators.
