Construction Safety Day set for May 14 in Puyallup

PUYALLUP — The first annual Construction Safety Day will be held Wednesday, May 14, at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. The program is designed for employers, supervisors and construction workers.

Construction Safety Day is sponsored by the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board, with support from the Department of Labor & Industries.

Workshops will be held for employers and supervisors, as well as for workers. Sessions for workers will be provided in English and Spanish. Workshops examples include:

  • Ergonomic solutions for construction.
  • Best practices for safety.
  • Fall protection awareness.
  • Contractor liability (based on the Stute court decision).
  • Application of new standards.

Conference fee is $50 and includes coffee, a catered lunch and prize drawings. Pre-registration is encouraged. Register online at www.wagovconf.org/constsafetyday.htm or at the door the day of the event beginning at 7 a.m. The program begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. Exhibitor registration (available online) is $200 and includes lunch.
