Press conference set for Monday to release Tesoro investigation results

TUMWATER – The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) has scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. PST Monday, Oct. 4, at its Mount Vernon office to announce the results of its investigation of the Tesoro refinery disaster.
Seven people were killed when an explosion occurred at the Anacortes refinery on April 2, 2010. L&I conducted a six-month investigation to determine what happened and whether there were any violations of state workplace safety and health regulations.
Speaking at the news conference will be L&I Director Judy Schurke and Michael Silverstein, Assistant Director for the Division of Occupational Safety and Health.
For those unable to attend in person, the press conference will be carried live on a webcast available at www.Lni.wa.gov and recorded for later viewing as well.
The Mount Vernon field office is at 525 E. College Way, Suite H. From Interstate 5, take exit 227 and proceed east on College Way through two stop lights. Turn left into the Mount Vernon Center. The office is at the north end of the complex.
