Background

The Department of Labor & Industries is conducting rulemaking to update the requirements in Chapter 296-155 WAC, Safety Standards for Construction Work, Part S, Demolition.
This rulemaking proposes to remove confusing and unnecessary language as well as add clarification where necessary throughout the rule.  Other housekeeping changes may be incorporated during this rulemaking.

Summary of rulemaking activity

The Division of Occupational Safety and Health filed a CR-101 Preproposal on July 5, 2018, for Chapter 296-155 WAC Safety Standards for Construction Work, Part S Demolition.

The draft language was shared with interested parties in the construction/demolition industry during earlier stakeholder meetings.  Thank you to all who attended and provided input as well as to those of you who sent in comments. The feedback received at these meetings has really helped us remove confusing and unnecessary language and add clarification where necessary throughout the rule.

Interested parties in the construction/demolition industry are invited to attend upcoming stakeholder meetings to review the revised draft.
