Virtual electrical inspection (VEI) is a service we offer only to certified electricians on work done on their own property or working for licensed electrical contractors. Virtual electrical inspections can only be requested when the contractor HAS NOT also requested a field inspection. If you have already requested a field inspection, please confirm that request has been cancelled online or through your local field office before scheduling your virtual inspection.
For property owners and other authorized individuals who do not qualify for VEI, or if you would prefer a field inspection, please use our standard inspection request process by going to:
https://secure.lni.wa.gov/home/ for returning contractors, or https://secure.lni.wa.gov/epispub/frmReqInspection.aspx for all other permit holders.
Are you eligible for a virtual electrical inspection? To qualify for VEI:
You must be a certified electrician, working on your own property, or working for a licensed electrical contractor, under a permit purchased by a licensed contractor.
- We try to limit inspections to 15 minutes or less. Unless arrangements have been made with VEI.
- A clear scope of work on VEI request is required… Please do not use the word “FINAL” when performing inspections with VEI. EXAMPLE: If we are inspection a “hot tub” please tell us it is a “hot tub”, and not a “final”.

If you have questions about what we will inspect, the VEI team can be reached at (360) 902-5299.
We use Microsoft Teams for our online inspections. Please download the Microsoft Teams App onto your smart phone or tablet. It is essential when creating your Teams account that you use an email address you will have access to on that device. It is possible to have your Teams account linked to multiple different email addresses, so please be sure you only log in with an active email address you will have access to in the field.
Once Microsoft Teams has been installed on your device, you can create appointments through our scheduler at (temp link) https://www.lni.wa.gov/test/schedule-virtual-inspection/#/. You will need to select the date and time for your inspection from the available openings, provide us with your contact information (please be sure your phone number is entered correctly), enter your certification number (from your specialty or journey/master level card), choose a name for the project, provide the permit number, and include a brief summary of the work to be inspected (please do not use vague language such as circuits, final, rough, or other non-descriptive terms). We depend on your accurate description of the work to help us prepare for the inspection.
When you have made an appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with a unique link you will need to click to join your inspection. Please be sure you enter the correct email address, or you will not receive the link required to join the inspection. If you do not receive a confirmation email after scheduling your inspection, please check your junk/spam folder. If after a few minutes you have still not received your confirmation email, please call the VEI hotline at (360) 902-5299 for assistance. Please DO NOT attempt to schedule another inspection if you have not received your confirmation email.
We can perform your inspection early if you request a change through your confirmation email (click the Reschedule button), or call our hotline at (360) 902-5299. Appointments can also be cancelled through the Reschedule button in your confirmation email, or by calling our hotline.
Please be sure your device is charged and connected to your customer’s Wi-Fi if it is available. Please do not wait to see if there is enough signal once you are in the inspection. Please assume you will need to be connected to Wi-Fi for adequate signal if Wi-Fi is available.
You will not need to open your Microsoft Teams app for the inspection, but you will need to keep the app installed on your device. Please click the “Join your appointment” button in your confirmation email A FEW MINUTES BEFORE your inspection. If you have more than one email address associated with your Teams account, you will be asked to select an email address before joining the meeting, please be sure you select the email address you used to create the appointment. You will be taken to a “lobby” where someone from VEI will join you.
When possible, please use ear buds equipped with a microphone for better communication, and to maintain confidentiality when appropriate.
If you do not hear from us within 5 minutes of your appointment time, let us know at 360-902-5299.
