Details

Labor & Industries (L&I) has several rulemakings for Contractor Registration and Plumbers.

First, L&I filed a CR-101 Preproposal Statement of Inquiry to consider changes to the plumber certification rules under chapter 296-400A WAC, on January 18, 2022, with a target effective date of September 1, 2022. The changes under consideration increase fees, address the legislative changes under the 2020 Plumbing Act (Senate Bill 6170 (SB), chapter 153, Laws of 2020), and make updates and other rule changes.

Second, L&I filed a CR-103 Rulemaking Order to adopt a fee increase of 5.79% for the contractor registration fees under WAC 296-200A-900 on March 22, 2022, that take effect on April 22, 2022.

Third, L&I is considering possible rulemaking for updates to the Specialty Contractor Classifications and other rules under chapter 296-200A WAC.

Updates on the status of these rulemakings will be provided during the quarterly Advisory Board of Plumbers meeting.
