Labor & Industries (L&I) is planning to file a CR-101 Preproposal Statement of Inquiry on October 10, 2023, that consider amendments to the Contractor Registration rules under chapter 296-200A WAC. The amendments affect the definitions, penalty and bond amounts, and fees for general and specialty contractors. The amendments are necessary due to the passage of Second Substitute House Bill 1534 (Chapter 213, Laws of 2023) and to support operating expenses for the Contractor Registration Program.

L&I is also considering changes to the plumbing rules under chapter 296-400A WAC. A Preproposal Statement of Inquiry was filed on January 18, 2022. The amendments consider updates, clarification, housekeeping, and other changes, including a fee increase by the fiscal growth factor. The amendments are necessary due to the passage of Senate Bill 6170 (Chapter 153, Laws of 2020) for general updates, and to support operating expenses for the Plumbers Program.
