About WISHA 10 for Agriculture certification
L&I offers free workplace safety and health training for agriculture. This training will benefit both workers and employers through safer workplaces and fewer incidents. It also promotes a culture of safety and health through peer training.
WISHA 10 for Agriculture Workers Certification (2-day training)
The WISHA 10 for Agriculture Certification is available free of charge. This certification is voluntary. It does not meet the employer training requirements contained in the WAC standards. Some employers, unions, and various other jurisdictions may require workers to have this training to work on job sites and to fulfill their own safety training goals. Successful participants will receive a WISHA 10 for Agriculture Certification Card and Certificate of Completion.
Learn to avoid the “Top 5” agricultural hazards:
- Struck by machinery or an object
- Falls from heights
- Caught in or between moving objects
- Pesticide exposure
- Improper use or lack of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Specialized training at no cost:
- Suitable for entry-level workers
- Available in English and Spanish
- The training is held over two days
- Participants receive a WISHA 10 for Agriculture certificate of completion
- Instruction includes presentations, videos, handouts, and interactive exercises.

Intro to WISHA 10 (1-3 hour on-site trainings)
We conduct an Intro to WISHA 10 to provide an overview of the WISHA 10 for Agriculture Workers Certification programs. This introduction includes:
- On-site visits to present specific safety and health topics to staff, offering a practical demonstration of our training
- A comprehensive overview of the importance of workplace safety and health in the agriculture sector
- Detailed benefits for both workers and employers derived from participating in WISHA 10 training programs
- A thorough explanation of the available certification programs and their specific requirements
- Insights into the training methodologies and materials utilized in each program
- Information on the application process and the support available to participants throughout the certification journey
- Documentation of the training session for employers, providing a snapshot of the training experience by covering one of the module topics

WISHA 10 for Agriculture Workers Training of Trainers Certification
- L&I's Division of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) offers this training course to help seasoned and skilled agriculture personnel become certified to teach the WISHA 10 for Agriculture class.
- This comprehensive program spans 5 days, covering adult learning principles and including a WISHA 10 module where we demonstrate how to effectively present each topic.
- The WISHA 10 Training-of-Trainer (TOT) for Agriculture is a no-cost certification for the Agriculture industry.
- Participants who successfully complete this course will be authorized to conduct the WISHA 10 for Agriculture in the agriculture industry.
WISHA 10 for Agriculture Workers Training of Teachers Certification
- This certification is designed specifically for High School and College level Agriculture instructors who will become certified trainers to educate students entering or already in the agriculture workforce.
- This program includes mock safety & health inspections, hazard recognition training, WA State Department of Labor & Industries Agency overview, and guest instructors specific to the agriculture sector.
- Participants who successfully complete this program will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to certify students in WISHA 10 for Agriculture, ensuring they are prepared for safe and healthy practices in the workplace.
WISHA 10 for Agriculture Workers Certified Trainer Refresher
- This event, organized by the Multicultural Safety & Health Outreach Program, is available both virtually and in-person.
- It provides updates to the WISHA 10 for Agriculture Workers Certification, with new topics discussed such as Zoonotic Diseases and Workplace Violence.
- Certified trainers are required to attend at least one session per year to maintain their certification.
